I bring glad tidings a child is born into our family on July 15th! His name is Cyrus Evander Leif Wessel. I share this little collection of poems and our joy with you!
Air and Angels by John Donne
Twice or thrice had I loved thee,
Before I knew thy face or name;
So in a voice, so in a shapeless flame,
Angels affect us oft, and worshipped be;
Still when, to where thou wert, I came,
Some lovely glorious nothing I did see,
But since my soul, whose child love is,
Takes limbs of flesh, and else could nothing do,
More subtle than the parent is
Love must not be, but take a body too,
And therefore what thou wert, and who I bid love ask, and now
That it assume thy body, I allow,
And fix itself in thy lip, eye, and brow.
Infant Joy by William Blake
“I have no name:
I am but two days old.”
What shall I call thee?
“I happy am,
Joy is my name.”
Sweet joy befall thee!
Pretty joy!
Sweet joy, but two days old.
Sweet Joy I call thee:
Thou dost smile,
I sing the while;
Sweet joy befall thee!
His own parents,
He that had father’d him, and she that had conceiv’d him in her womb, and birth’d him,
They gave this child more of themselves than that;
hey gave him afterward every day–they became part of him. ~Walt Whitman
How good–to be alive!
How infinite–to be
Alive–two-fold–The Birth I had
And this–besides, in–Thee!

200 days gone, summer in full swing, the full moon heavy in sultry heat. I dream of you across the sky and blow my kisses into the cloudless night. Love holds together what distance threatens to pull apart. People everywhere dream of being loved. As caregivers, may we be open to sharing our love with those entrusted into our care while they are separated from their loved ones.

Greetings to everyone,
Tony &I are reflecting on the many wonders that the summer season brings…a recent trip to the beach reminded us that in the face of a changing economy and uncertainty in politics – local or global, the simple gifts we have that surround us: the ocean, wildlife, courtesies from strangers, random acts of kindness,our health, faith and family & loving friends remind us of what is important in living.
Thank you.LikeLike

Congratulations on the newest addition to your family, Liz. I LOVE the name. Very unique. I am sure there are special meanings behind each name. In closing I share with you then an extraordinary poem that was given to me by a close friend when I had my last child…
“I am a child of God,
And he has sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home
With parents kind and dear.”
“I am a child of God,
And so my needs are great;
Help me to understand his words
Before it grows too late.”
“I am a child of God.
Rich blessings are in store;
If I but learn to do his will
I’ll live with him once more.”
“Lead me, guide me, walk beside me,
Help me find the way.
Teach me all that I must do
To live with him someday.”

I wish you and your family much joy and happiness…LikeLike

Yvonne, that poem is actually a Mormon hymn. I sing it to all my kids when they are babies, including Mr. Cyrus 🙂
