I have really enjoyed your comments and posts over the past week. They could not have come at a more needed time, as I try to discern which path is the right path. Do I quit my job and move to a town with few opportunities and few jobs to care for my parents, uprooting my children and the opportunites they have here, or stay for their sake and do what I can for my parents from afar? I do not fear for myself, but the good of the ones I love.
I have taken everything you’ve written into deep consideration, and although I haven’t found my way on either path, the words you’ve written each day have reached through the monitor and touched my soul. Many days, your thoughts have been a beacon of light while I hover over the black hole. Thank you Erie, Kathy, Liz, Karen, Diana, Yvonne, victoria and Lorilee. You are living proof that each drop of kindness and insight into the pond of life reaches places far beyond where you are and touches people you’ve never seen.

Rest and peace come from walking slowly, reading poetry, sipping tea, breathing lavender, meditating, loving.

    Dear Rachelle,
Wow, that is a BIG question for discernment. I’ve been in a place of wondering myself; as to when to visit my brother again. I pray and I place the question in suspension trusting that the answer will reveal itself. I believe the right answer will come to you as well. In the meantime, I am so glad to are near and I do want to see you, so lets get together again!
    Love,

Yesterday I forwarded Cathy’s meditation, “Celebrate You” via e-mail to friends to celebrate their friendship. I received this response from Ann.
Liz, I had a dream about us last night. YOU MADE me speak to a group of women about lists. Lists that we have home on our fridge to do, lists in our pocket books of errands to do, lists of committee tasks that we have to do, lists at work that we have to do, lists that our kids give us of things to do. How we are all so involved in taking care of lists all the time…for others.. always about taking care of others….
I asked everyone to close their eyes and think about all the lists that they have, some in their purses and some at work or their calendar or their day timers..etc etc
Then I asked everyone to close their eyes and picture the list that they have made of things that they do for themselves.. I asked that only the women that don’t have anything on their list to open their eyes……..
I was the only one in the room with my eyes open……and I started crying and then you hugged me and you said to me..that is why I had you speak to the group Ann….to make you realize that you need to start taking care of yourself…..
THANK YOU FOR MY DREAM LIZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Dear Ann,
This morning I was reflecting on the meaning of your dream and the profound messages we receive in dreams! As much as I would like to, I am afraid I can not take any credit for your dream. I believe the “Liz” in your dream is really the Holy Spirit that showed its face to you as a familiar friend. I would love to post your dream as I think others could benefit from reading it.
    Love you,
    ~liz
    Liz,
Wow, what an insight, the Holy Spirit speaks to us sometimes so softly that we don’t even know it. Yet that dream was so real and so strong that it is very loud in my everyday life now….. I woke up expecting you to be right beside me….when all the time God was…just as he promises. In the valleys …and the hill tops. .he will not forsake me and the dream reminded me that I need to be faithful in all of that and love myself and others.
Post is ok and then perhaps you can teach me how to post as I tried it once and was not successful.
    Ann

Dearest Rachelle… While my life too currently consist of some near future employment decisions and changes, I don’t feel that they encompass such potential life changes as your situation presents. However, I share with you a website address that I used to support a presentation that I did about a year ago related to the aging of our population and it touched many of my classmates who too had parents that either they were caring for and or were in your situation about potentially having to make the very same decisions you are contemplating. I don’t think that this can guide you in a decision but might bring some comfort.
    The site is http://parentswish.com/site06/index.html
Take care and while I don’t know you personally, I wish for you peace and love.

    Saturday Day 243
Excerpt form Treasures of the Heart: Daily Readings with Jean Vanier
    Rest In Those We love
“A friend sent me a text of Bernard of Clairvaux (letter 90); I found it very beautiful.”
“While I write this letter, you are present to me as I am sure I shall be present to you when you read it. We wear ourselves out scribbling to each other, but is the Spirit ever weary of loving? We find rest in those we love and we provide a resting place in ourselves for those who love us.”
“Letters can be a real nourishment.”
“We should not be afraid of loving people and telling them we love them. That is the greatest nourishment of them all.”

Rest in Sunday Morning: Day 244
    “The only real rest comes
    when you’re alone with God.”
    ~Rumi
    Just Sit There Right Now
    Just sit there right now.
Don’t do a thing. Just rest.
    For your separation from God
is the hardest work in this world.
Let me bring you trays of food
    and something that you like
    to drink.
You can use my soft words
    as a cushion
    for your head.
    ~Hafiz

    Yvonne,
I watched the video on aging, which reminds us that life is all about Love. Thanks for sharing this.
