About

Amazing GraceEach week I look for a clue and I wonder if something will bubble up that may inspire or delight readers. Sometimes the well spring is dry or I may be surprised by how the page comes to life with a splash of color. Whatever it might be, my intention is to come forth from a place of genuineness.

When we give expression to the quiverings of the heart or dare to speak of what weighs on us, this naming out loud holds power. Suddenly words magnify our experience and we may wish our thoughts had remained an unheard whisper. This is especially true, when the listener feels a need to give us an answer to our heart’s question.

Today, I am floating on a vast sea of emptiness. Not the kind of message I wish to offer in this season of blessings. Be it ever so unadorned, I wish to be congruent with what I feel. I can trust that these shades of greying blues, green and lavender have a story to tell. In the unravelling and stirrings within we are freed from our darkness, but only when we stop struggling to get away.

In stillness, we befriend our cast off selves. “Be still and know that I am.”

I thought of our many moments of meaningful connection in this great big constellation of life; of beautiful beings who offer generous hospitality, humor amid poignancy, kindness in turmoil. Yes, this vast open sea holds an amazing grace.

Dear Liz, I hope you realize that you serve as a spark, even if it is a beautiful mandela with the words Amazing Grace for reflection. It has been 2 years since I have been cured and healed from a serious illness. And it was the recognition of the amazing grace that surrounded me that healed my soul. My life is very different now, and the journey has been truly Amazing”. I know I had to be in the depths of a valley to ask for help, realize that I had everything I needed to live the life I was intended to lead. So thank you for your sparks of reflection! And thank you Erie too! You both inspire me to pause and listen.

At times one has to stop. Clear your mind of all the day to day things that fill up our lives and just be still and listen to God.

Liz, the colour, beauty, simplicity and delicacy of your mandala spoke beyond words and that was enough. Thank you for sharing your heart in both colour and words – all powerful means drawing me into the hidden beauty of this season of joy, especially when I slow down to wonder and marvel at the Mystery of Life. Thank you Liz.

It is fascinating to walk around inside any one of your mandalas – including this one. Remarkable how amazing grace can appear on a “sea of emptiness.”

So beautiful, honest, and true. In our moments of stillness as we become empty, we are being readied to receive, to be revived, to be restored by God’s love.

Liz: I am amazed at your aptitude in expressing your thoughts on a particular subject matter in your beautiful mandala! Yes, Grace lies within the very Center of our Being, our LIFE Source ready for us tap from Him amid our “ups and downs” of life. Now in the celebration of Advent we are reminded that the Lord has come and He dwells within us to be our all. “Amazing Grace how sweet the sound…was blind but now I see”. Sbeng
