Journal of Sacred Work

Caregivers have superpowers! Radical Loving Care illuminates the divine truth that caregiving is not just a job. It is Sacred Work.

About

During the first part of this week, we reflected on the role of purpose in the garden of Love. My own life purpose was enhanced yesterday, Thursday morning, Dec. 6, when I learned that our daughter had given birth to a healthy daughter.
It is no exaggeration to say the my will to live longer will be significantly affected by my hope of seeing my two grandchildren grow up…and grow into Love’s light.
What is it that gives purpose to your life and work?

I would agree that my family, my children are at the heart of my purpose. I too hope to see them grow into beautiful adults and to be part of their childrens’ lives. I offer this poem from Rumi on the gift of our lives…
“Sometimes you hear a voice through the door
calling you, as fish out of water
hear the waves, or a hunting falcon
hears the drum’s Come back. Come back.
This turning toward what you deeply love
saves you. Read the book of your life,
    which has been given you.
A voice comes to your soul saying,
    Lift your foot. Cross over.
    Move into the emptiness
of question and answer and question.”
The message to me this week – keep turning toward what I deeply love for it will save me whn I’ve lost my way or am confused about my purpose.

“A babe in the house is a well-spring of pleasure, a messenger of peace and Love, a resting place for innocence on earth, a link between angels and men.”

Congratulations! This is joyful news, and heightens my awareness that just to be alive is a rare and wondrous gift. To be in Loving relationship with my family and friends, this gives my life meaning and purpose.
