I have come to this site at least 5 times today and have come up empty when searching for a comment. I began the week missing work due to illness and feel that the remainder of my time I have been clawing my way through a thick fog. I can’t seem to see my way clear and there is nothing solid in my grasp. So, I turn to Rilke and this is what he tells me:
You see, I want a lot.
Maybe I want it all:
the darkness of each endless fall,
the shimmering light of each ascent.
So many are alive who don’t seem to care.
Casual, easy, they move in the world
as through untouched.
But you take pleasure in the faces
of those who know they thirst.
You cherish those
who grip you for survival.
You are not dead yet, it’s not too late
to open your depths by plunging into them
and drink in the life
that reveals itself quietly there.LikeLike

Karen, I was holding on to faith that you would post something meaningful today and you did not let me down. I so enjoyed Rilke’s poem that you shared as a reflection of your outlook today. I appreciate your honest expression and willingness to be vulnerable, alive, and so in touch with your feelings. I hope you are feeling better and that the fog lifts as you enter into your weekend. What comes to mind is the wonderful Jewish tradition of entering the Sabbath at sundown on Friday evening. May it be a holy, restful, and a sacred time of coming home to a quiet space of peace within. This is my wish for you.
