Alive Hospice lost a dear friend and co-worker to cancer this past week. It is always an honor for us to take care of one of our own, yet the joy and the grief run so deep. She was the epitome of loving care in her non-judgemental presence and her ability to make you feel that you were the only person in the world that mattered in that moment. She worked into her 70’s and retired in the midst of her 4th and final round with this disease. She decided not to undergo treatment this last time, but to live life to the fullest. She died in the way that most of us would wish – quietly, peacefully, in the presence of friends and family who surrounded her with love. She is an inspiration to all of us in courage, tenacity, presence and living love. Your spirit lives on in the thousands of lives you have touched in your personal journey and through your work at Alive. We love you Betty and will see you again in another world.

Dear Karen, friends, family, and colleagues of Betty at Alive Hospice. My heart goes out to all of you in your time of grief and I send my sincere condolences. Thank you for sharing this beautiful tribute to Betty. I think if I lived my life half as well as Betty I would die knowing I had lived and Loved well. May the peace of Betty’s Loving spirit fill your grieving hearts with peace.
