Journal of Sacred Work

Caregivers have superpowers! Radical Loving Care illuminates the divine truth that caregiving is not just a job. It is Sacred Work.

About

On Friday and the weekend, it has become the Journal’s tradition to establish this open forum so that caregivers may share with each other whatever is on their hearts. Click on Comments, below, to do this.

I hesitated to post today… with the hope that this blank page might entice someone new to share from his or her heart. However, I have had a random act of kindness bestowed upon me and I feel moved to reach out to you. Victoria Facey, my co-worker surprised me this morning with a little gift. She said joyfully, “this is something I know you will like.” Earlier in the week Victoria was present when I complimented Joan for the earrings she was wearing and I learned that her sister made them. Behind the scenes Victoria arranged to purchase a similar pair for me…just because! Thank you Victoria, I feel blessed to have a friend with such a generous and giving heart.
The day is so much sweeter when our hearts open to Love. It seems there is so much sadness and grief all around. Friends, co-workers dealing with the pain of loss that comes with change, illness, and dying; things we must all suffer at some point. Kindness softens the blows and Love helps illumine each day. And so I open my heart to you and I wish that you might in turn open your heart to another. Look around you there are so many who need your Love, today. Don’t hesitate-give it away.

    Traditional Prayer for Healing
Just as the soft rains fill the streams,
pour into the rivers, and join together in the oceans,
so may the power of every moment of your goodness
flow forth to awaken and heal all beings–
those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.
By the power of every moment of your goodness,
may your heart’s wishes be soon fulfilled
as completely shining as the bright full moon,
as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.
By the power of every moment of your goodness,
may all dangers be averted and all disease be gone.
May no obstacle come across your way.
May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.
For all in whose heart dwells respect,
who follow the wisdom and compassion, of the Way,
may your life prosper in the four blessings
of old age, beauty, happiness and strength.
