This past week I attended a Celebration of Life for an extraordinary woman Helen who lived a full life of 97 years. She was so beloved and cherished by all her family and friends. Her daughter Corrine read this poem at the service that is a true reflection of Helen’s beautiful, light filled spirit. I thought you might appreciate this. And now I dedicate this to your grandmother, Mareanne, and to Ross Alderman, with Love.

When I die if you need to weep,
cry for your brother or sister walking the street beside you.
And when you need me, put your arms around someone
and give them what you need to give me.
I want to tell you something…
    when you are missing me,
look for me in the people I’ve loved,
look for me when you see the full moon,
    when you listen to music,
and when you hear the laughter of children.
And if you want to honor me,
do so by taking something of my life that you admired, and bring it into yours.
Let me continue to live in your heart, your eyes, and your spirit.
    Love dosen’t die, people do
So when all that is left of me is love,
    give me away.

Thank you Liz for the beautiful dedication! I thought I would share the story below as it goes along with what you and Yvonne were saying about being communicated with beyond time space and even death…..
Last week my friend Barb and I were out driving and the song “I hope you dance” came on the radio. I told her how every time I hear this song I tear up because it was one of the last things my grandmother said to me. On Wednesday evening I went to visit Barb before she left for Hawaii and she handed me this book upside down and said before you look at the title I need to tell you what happened:
I was walking through Target and went down the book isle when this book suddenly appeared in front of me; I couldn’t believe it and knew it was meant for you. I was clueless to what she was talking about and then turned the book over to find “I hope you dance”. The book follows the words from the song and is filled with wisdom and inspirational thoughts. The strangest part of the whole thing is that Barb had no idea yesterday was the anniversary of my Grandmothers passing and to be completely honest I had totally forgotten also. My life has been full of stress and I have obviously not been focusing on what really matters. I believe Grandma sent me a message to slow down and dance, to remember what is important and that life is so much more then work which is unfortunately all my life has been filled with lately.
Thanks for the reminder Grandma, I Love you!!!

I too love this song and figured I would provide the lyrics to the song for anyone that has never read them word for word.
    I HOPE YOU DANCE
    By: Lee Ann Womack
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give fate the fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance
    I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances but they’re worth taking
Lovin’ might be a mistake but it’s worth making
Don’t let some hell bent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
    I hope you dance
    (Rolling us along)
    I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder)
    I hope you dance
    (Where those years have gone)
I hope you still feel small when you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith the fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    Dance
    I hope you dance
    I hope you dance
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always)
    I hope you dance
    (Rolling us along)
    I hope you dance
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder)
    I hope you dance
    (Where those years have gone)
(Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder)
    I hope you dance
    (Where those years have gone)
