A guess Labor Day was first designated as a holiday to honor workers. I am all for that!!! Mostly what it means to me is
my parents anniversary, family gatherings, barbecue ribs, corn on the cob, watermelon, the street fair with lots of international foods, the hot sun, live music, fun. Kickin’ back, relaxing, a long weekend that heralds the end of summer, back to school, and ushers us into fall.
This Labor Day has been quiet by choice, mostly just relaxing, reading, talking to family long distance and a few friends. The highlight of this weekend for me was lingering around the dinner table for a few hours last night with my son John and his girlfriend Veronica as I listened and engaged in casual conversation on many subjects. I came away thinking what bright young minds, and I was quite impressed with their interest and knowledge of American history. My son seems to have turned a page in life from teenager to dashing young man with a renewed interest in getting acquainted. How delightful!
