Journal of Sacred Work

Caregivers have superpowers! Radical Loving Care illuminates the divine truth that caregiving is not just a job. It is Sacred Work.

About

The dive
Whose legs are these? Who cares? Lots of people did when they saw them in a particular movie. It's time for a little distraction for today's caregivers. Here's the little quiz. Is this:
a) Esther Williams in Bathing Beauty
b) Katherine Hepburn in Philadelphia Story
c) Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot.
d) Grace Kelly in an outtake from Rear Window
e) Annette Funicello in Beach Blanket Bingo?
f) Mae West in "I'm Not an Angel"
g) I could care less. What does this have to do with caregiving? Anyway, everyone knows it's Kate Winslet at the pool party after the Oscars.

Here's a poem I wrote during a vacation in The House of Mother Time.

As Mother Time finger-
snaps me toward her margins
I find myself shouting louder
& echoing quieter.

"You cant' be heard through
poetry," she gentle-voices me,
"especially if you write more
than four lines."

-Erie Chapman

p.s. I'll give you the answer to the quiz in the comment section after some people try their guesses.

My guess is a) Ester Williams by process of elimination. However, G) is rather apprealing. ;-)Thanks for sharing your excellent poem.

I’ll follow Liz with a) Ester Williams since there is no h) any of the above.

I agree with Liz and Tom.(a)..I can’t imagine Katherine H or Grace K diving; too graceful for Mae or Marilyn; Annette was on a beach..Even with all these wonderful deductions, I never was much of a movie person, so I have a good excuse when the answer is something else! The poem is on the other hand most intriquing, and leaves one wanting for more.

My brother guessed Kate Hepburn – I quote, “Us movie people know her as Kate.” I’ll go with my brother’s guess too.

    AND THE WINNER IS…
Diana. Yes, this is, indeed, Kate Hepburn in Philadelphia Story. Congratulations for listening to your brother who is obviously a true and knowledgeable lover of old films. Your prize is something you will deeply appreciate. It is the congratulations and admiration of each commenter from today, every one of whom is an “NF.”

25 years ago, people used to tell me I looked like a young Kate Hepburn. Alas, it surely wasn’t my legs they were thinking of.
