Last night, in a spontaneous move, I went to the opening of St. Matt’s Healing Retreat. A small group of people showed up to form a circle in sacred space. What brought us together in our longings and hope? Sharing in prayerful song, listening to poignant life stories, I found myself holding back, feeling too private to share my own. The laying on of healing hands, now, those I could extend in a gesture of Love and fellowship but my words they did not flow free. Love is healing me.
Today, I choose a different kind of healing. We drive towards Laguna Beach at daybreak, sleepy, noticing mist hovering in the valley and the changing hues of mountains’ silhouette. A communion with salt air, wind cheek kisses, seagulls kite sailing, childrens’ gleeful squeals, dogs’ tails wagging in exuberant friendliness. Easy conversations between people who have never met, natural, without a hint of stranger anxiety. A good book to read, a warm cup of coffee, waves rolling in and out; connecting us with the breath of life. Sunlight’s warmth is healing me.
Home again, I listen to music that connects me to my soul, helping me to remember the beauty and mystery of life, music is healing me.
“I think music is what language would love to be if it could.”
~ John O’Donohue
And I am curious my friend, what is healing you?LikeLike

I am not bound for any public place, but for ground of my own where I have planted vines and orchard trees, and in the heat of the day climbed up into the healing shadow of the woods.
