For Solitude

By John O’Donohue

May you recognize in your life the presence,
power, and light of your soul.

May you realize that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging
connects you intimately with the rhythm of the
universe.

May you have respect for your individuality and
difference.

May you realize that the shape of your soul is
unique,
that you have a special destiny here,
that behind the facade of your life
there is something beautiful and eternal happening.

May you learn to see your self
with the same delight,
pride, and expectation
with which God sees you in every moment.

Once again, Liz, thank you. John O’Donohue has the gift to touch deep into our being and you have the gift, Liz, of bringing the richness of John’s writings to our attention. Liz, I love your watercolour – takes me into solitude, into stillness, into being. May you enjoy your moments of solitude.

“May you realize the shape of your soul is unique.” What a terrific line among many from O’Donohue. Thank you for this, Liz, and thank you for the continuing gift of your fabulous art work.

Ah…deep sigh! What a lovely way to start today. ‘For Solitude’ goes well with Erie’s last post. Love fills every crevice of existence unconditionally. Love permeates our souls, we are never alone. Erie’s message and now this poem together are restorative and invigorating. Knowing we are each part of this amazing love crafted tapestry, I am reminded once again to put my attention on the deeper meaning behind the facade of life’s superficiality. YES! I say to another day! Blessings upon you all on this beautiful, miraculous morning!

Thank you Liz for sharing this beautiful poem, my day has been more than challenging and I just actually wrote that I was so grateful to be able to go to bed so I could wake up to a new day, and then I read this poem and saw your beautiful artwork and my perspective has already changed…Thank you my friend for the much needed attitude adjustment.

Thanks so much for your kind expressions Sr. Maureen, Erie, Candace and Mareanne.
Yes, Candace I thought this poem reflected some of the wisdom Erie shared this week. May we be true to our soul’s nature and love for the sake of loving.

Oh how lonely must it feel, to be all alone for eternity… chilled in the dark, full of pain and overflowing sorrow. Out from His Presence… out of reach forever.
