Journal of Sacred Work

Caregivers have superpowers! Radical Loving Care illuminates the divine truth that caregiving is not just a job. It is Sacred Work.

About

"As a bird soars high/In the free holding of the wind,/Clear of the certainty of ground,/Opening the imagination of wings/Into the grace of emptiness/To fulfill new voyagings,/May your life awaken/To the call of its freedom." -John O'Donohue

Note: Please enter into this reflection by watching this video first… (caution,  you may find yourself watching it several times over.) 😉

God’s is engaging us in a game of "hide and seek"* and coaxing us into playfulness. We watch in awe as we catch a glimpse of Ruah, and miraculously what was invisible is suddenly a visible presence in our midst.

The spirit of God is upon us now as a flowing river mirrored in sky. Oh, how our Beloved lifts these starlings to magnificent heights, only to catch them in free fall as they sail on currents of each breath. We see the most graceful dance of life. Thousands of starlings soaring without hesitation and with the seeming ease of acrobats as they ribbon across the velvety heavens.

StarlingphotoA great maestro conducts the loveliest of symphonies for us to behold. Our souls take flight with these majestic birds as their intuitive, almost choreographed movements flow in unison, curling, swirling, unfurling, and weaving in and out in a convergence of joy. Mesmerized, it's as if we can no longer tell where they begin and we end.

A precious magical moment, ah but too soon, God takes to hiding again, once visible, then poof invisible, leaving us with traces of Divine Grace to savor.

What a lovely moment! Thank you! I love the word ‘murmuration’. It has potential. The expression on the young woman’s face at the end of the video was also beautiful. She had been touched by the breath of God. I will be thinking of the starlings as I go for my walk today in our cloudy, brisk weather. Everything is alive with spirit.

Breathtaking! A demonstration of fluidity, chaos, and sense of calmness. Feels a little weird using those words in the same sentence but they are to me sometimes the representation about how it feels in the workplace.. However,I prefer a sense of calmness but i also know that chaos can sometimes be hiding in the shadows. Sorry if my posting doesn’t make sense – had a crazy work week.

The wonder, the delight and the joy of the girls revealed the magic and the Mystery of the moment. Blessed are we who have the eyes to see, the heart to savour the experience and the technology at our fingertips that can capture such moments. Thank you Liz for your invitation to join in the rhythm of the dance with Ruah.

    Thank you for this, Liz.
On November 27, 1799, the great poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge was riding across the English countryside in his coach. His artist’s eyes saw many things that day, but none as memorable as his own experience of a murmuration: “Soon after this I saw Starlings in vast Flights, borne along like smoke, mist – like a body unindued with voluntary Power / – now it shaped itself into a circular area, inclined – now they formed a Square – now a Globe – now from complete orb into an Ellipse – then oblongated into a Balloon with the Car suspended, now a concave Semicircle; still expanding, or contracting, thinning or condensing, now glimmering and shivering, now thickening, deepening, blackening!”
