Journal of Sacred Work

Caregivers have superpowers! Radical Loving Care illuminates the divine truth that caregiving is not just a job. It is Sacred Work.

About

I look at the 1981 image of myself, below, and then at the one on this weblog (above right) & wonder: What happened to that thirty-seven year old man?

    Beautiful piece of sharing Chip!
We do leave everlasting waves upon the waters of the world as we journey to the other side. And, deep down, Earth knows–that we were here on life’s beach–yes, once much younger, perhaps more potent, more physically present or dominant, and yet, as we have touched one another with love, so those waves still linger on, cascading into a larger ocean of never ending togetherness and mutual love for one another. One for all; all as one. This I believe!

I truly love your reflection, Erie and the sensitivity with which it is written…it does offer comfort and great insights. Your closing with Zagajewski’s words are so powerfully tender.

Self image versus self portrait. What we see in ourselves versus what is seen by others. Are our words better descriptions of us than our images? We have all grown up with video and still photography but perhaps our great grandparents never saw themselves until they were grand. What vision are we? An innie or an outie?
