About

Angel cloud-resting - erie chapman   I shared the story when my middle grandson was 5.  "Is God blue?" he asked. God lives above. God must be sky-colored.

Children imagine heaven as above the clouds. Floating there are God, Jesus, angels & all who came before. I remember hoping for glimpses on my first plane ride.

As adults, we still look up for inspiration. After near-death experiences people routinely report drifting above. Some report seeing us as they enter the light. Some experience hellish visions &, like Uncle Scrooge, quickly reform.

The older I grow the clearer it becomes that the great "myths" are true: God is real, angels float about us now, those who have passed on (or up) are forever whispering to the living.

The sooner we accept this the sooner some fears of death fade.

If my occasional glimpses of heaven are true there is no reason to fear dying. In fact, free of worldly suffering it will be good to see you through the afterlife lens.

Since I will depart before you & am never without a camera I will send pictures. Look for them in the clouds.

And may this Veterans Day and Veterans week be a special time of honoring those who have gone before.

What a hopeful, gorgeous entry. This is something I will read over and over when fear creeps in.

The fear of death fascinates me…
Do we fear death because of the unknown?
Is it because we question whether we will be accepted into Heaven?
Do we fear the pain that is likely experienced as we fade away from this world?
Maybe we fear leaving loved ones behind?

“Look for them in the clouds”. What an amazingly poignant sentence showing depth of feeling; ability to accept magic in a fundamentally straight line world, and of course your firm grasp of writing skills. Another excellent post, Chip!
My oldest son Jon, when walking with me in a cloud filled sky, when he was a little boy, said, “I love clouds because I can see everything in them!”
Yes that’s true and we all should pause any day we see them and reflect on our place in this stupendously beautiful planet Earth. Clouds remind us of the majesty, the grace, and the beauty of life and I am very grateful for all of it!

So tender & loving a reflection & the image you have created is majestic. Beautiful, comforting, heartfelt & yet heart rendering…I guess none of of know when we will be called home but I do hope and pray that you will be gracing this earthly realm with your light-filled presence for many more years to come, dear one.
