Caregivers have superpowers! Radical Loving Care illuminates the divine truth that caregiving is not just a job. It is Sacred Work.

About

Sunflower-Artist Bobbye TerryI have heard it said that sunflowers turn toward the position of the sun. On cloudy and rainy days when the suns rays are obstructed from view, sunflowers will turn towards one another, perhaps to share the warmth of their energy.

What a beautiful thought to contemplate. In essence, all of creation yearns for and is drawn towards love and light, towards life with creative expression and a fulfillment of being alive.

In nature we are learning so much about how trees and plants communicate and help to support one another in community through intricacies of interconnectedness. I came across an article recently, describing some fascinating developments in our understanding of trees. Scientific findings suggest that trees circulate water and nutrients through a slow pulsating movement comparable to blood circulating through the human body and similar to a heartbeat!

Wow, the innate intelligence in all of life is a profound mystery and a message of hope!

There is so much heartbreak in the world today. Globally, nationally, locally, external events and internal turmoil that is taking a toll on our health and wellbeing. I find that the best medicine to worrisome thoughts is to get out of my head and into nature. Here is where I feel a renewal of my interconnectedness with all of life and the hopefulness that continually calls us to the more, to light and to living into our greatest potential. To live with equanimity towards all with respect and reverance 'for all creatures, great and small', as we remember that the only true gift we can offer is our LOVE.

A beautiful example of moving from darkness towards the light of love can be found in the gorgeous artwork of Bobbye Terry. Recently she raised money to help the people of Ukarine through her art.

Thanks for posting my painting, Liz! The reflection is beautiful, and so true. Nature is a joy to me, every day, from the trees in my backyard, to the birds that hop around the patio–at least when the neighbor’s cat isn’t there, sleeping on my chair. It is all quite imperfectly perfect! Today, however, with temperatures right at 100, I think I will stay inside, and just peer out. To all, peace and comfort…
    Love,
    Bobbye

Thank you Liz for your words of encouragement and a reminder of how interconnected we are on many levels. The tree teaches us in many enlightening ways. Only this morning as I was listening to the birds chirping I was caught in Wonder. Indeed we are immersed in Beauty.
May The Tree pray for us:
    The Prayer of the Tree
    anon
You who pass by and would raise your hand
against me, hearken ere you harm me,
I am the heat of your hearth on the cold
winter night, the friendly shade screening
    you from summer sun.
And my fruits are refreshing draughts
quenching your thirst as you journey on.
I am the beam that holds your house, the
board of your table, the bed on which you
lie, the timber that builds your boat.
I am the handle of your hoe, the door of your
homestead, the wood of your cradle,
the shell of your last resting place.
I am the gift of God and the friend of man,
You who pass by, listen to my prayer and
    Harm me not.

“On cloudy and rainy days when the suns rays are obstructed from view, sunflowers will turn towards one another…” What a marvelous metaphor. Thank you, Liz. And thank you Bobbye Terry. You have brought us warmth and light by the way you have turned toward each other!
