About

Cleo Wade-Heart TalkOne Small Step is a StoryCorp Program that invites two people who are stangers with differing political views to come togehter for a conversation about their lives not their politics. The beauty of these encounters is that sthe conversations are about getting to know the person rather than by labeling someone. To really see the person beyond surface impressions. At the end of a 50 min conversation would be strangers are now friends. This is a wonderful example of planting seeds that will someday blossom. Seeds of healing for a nation that is in desperate need of reconcilation, forgiveness and finding a path towards unity.

I just love these two short (2 min) videos that reminds us of who we are and celebrates our humanity.  May we find our way home to each other.

Tell us what you think.

How fruitful it would be if we really did engage with the other, rather than label or categorise an individual without getting to know him or her. I remember a line in a poem I read over fifty years ago about people of a different race; the line read, “and the same rich red blood flows through us”. How true.
    Thanks Liz for the sharing.
May Hope and Reconciliation abound in our world.

What a MAGNIFICENT program StoryCorp is. Not only are we our stories BUT, when we hear ourselves tell them to someone who LISTENS it advances our self respect, expands our understanding and opens our heart. I listened to both of these and commend them to all. This is an exercise EVERYONE should practice with someone. Thank you, Liz.

Also, Liz, I clicked open the handwritten-like note and love the line: “You never know how many people find their way home, in even the wildest storms, because you are there!” Thank YOU for being one of those who helps so many of us find our way through the storm!

I so appreciate your insightful comment, Erie, to share our stories with someone who is open, receptive, and willing to really listen is indeed a beautiful gift. It is a pathway to understanding, building connection and recognizing our shared humanity.

Yes, I too love that line! And “We are all just walking each other home.” Thank you for being there for so many of us, Erie!
